A film programme for educational centres. The films have been selected for their focus on and commitment to human rights and global justice.
The 34th edition of the MIFDB will include eight screenings of feature and short films in schools, along with participatory discussions on the issues addressed. These discussions will involve organisations active in the field of human rights defence and experts in audiovisual education. This year, the invited organisations are Red Jurídica Antirracista and Taula per Mèxic.
The project aims to raise awareness of unjust power relations between the Global North and South, and the structural causes of inequalities and human rights violations. It also aims to promote critical, committed, and co-responsible citizenship in defending these rights, and to promote audiovisual media as a tool for social transformation.
Each session includes extra teaching materials that provide information on the theoretical and contextual framework, as well as suggestions for further activities, so that teachers can provide continuity in the learning process.
