Special Sessions

28th May, 11th and 25th June

In collaboration with the Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica and Zumzeig Cinecooperativa

The Special Sessions at this year’s MIFDB focus on filmmakers who are heirs to the mestizo and decolonial thinking of authors such as Gloria Anzaldúa and Aimé Cesaire. The four short films that will be screened in these sessions were born in a present in which idiomatic and cinematographic languages are hybridised to represent experiences that for a long time remained on the margins of the screen. They were conceived in a political context in which the museums of the global North refuse to return the objects stolen during the plundering, limiting their historical and aesthetic readings.
