Vol. I

May 22nd – July 18th 2025

In Company of Strangers:
Collective Reviews of Past, Present and Future.

The films that shape the 33rd Mostra Internacional de Films de Dones de Barcelona (MIFDB) defend cinema as a language from which to explain the world beyond the abyss.

This year’s programme proposes narrations from the past, present and future that flee all narrative pacts and defy the narrowness of the patriarchal imagination. Together we will ask ourselves: what re-readings do we collectively write? Through rhizomatic visual archives, queer bricolage works and the practice of filming as an act of empathy, the directors of these works will be practicing possible answers to this question.

In hostile times, we will defend images that do not underline fear but desire. Images that focus on the reeds that grow out of the marshes, that squeeze lemons and turn them into sweets. Counter-images of solitary individuality, which mobilise the stories by
relying on each other.
