Known
and Recognised

Known and Recognised is a travelling programme by MIFDB that promotes the circulation of films made by Catalan women filmmakers while encouraging critical reflection on audiovisual imaginaries and gender roles. The programme brings together a selection of recent gems from contemporary Catalan feminist cinema, with the aim of reaching audiences across different parts of Catalonia through works that reimagine narratives around abortion, armed conflict, migration and life after imprisonment.

This year, Known and Recognised is focusing its attention on two new partner municipalities: Granollers and Vilafranca del Penedès. Each municipality will host three screenings, accompanied by conversations with the filmmakers.

Also joining this year’s programme is the presentation of the second season of the documentary series Dones en lluita, featuring the episode dedicated to the West Bank. This episode will be screened L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Cornellà, Mataró and Vic, with the participation of journalist and series director Txell Freixas.
